Remembering Dr. Philip Ndum

With great sadness, we regret to inform you that Florida Cancer Specialists (FCS) physician Dr. Philip Ndum passed away on Sunday, December 2, following more than two years of fighting advanced melanoma.

Dr. Ndum began his practice as a medical oncologist/hematologist in the Palm Coast community in 2003; he joined Florida Cancer Specialists in 2013. Despite being diagnosed early in 2016,
Dr. Ndum continued to practice, as his health allowed, until very recently, serving as a constant example of faith, strength and courage for his patients.

In a 2016 interview with FCS Magazine, Dr. Ndum said, “My prognosis is poor. Black male. Aggressive melanoma. Median survival is one year. But today I have no limitations and I am working every day. I will do whatever I can physically to combat this.”

Originally from Cameroon, Africa, Dr. Ndum demonstrated in a profound way that he never forgot his roots. In 2011, after three years of hard work and unfailing dedication, Dr. Ndum and his wife succeeded in building and opening the rst-ever health clinic in his home village of Ndebaya in Cameroon.

As an FCS physician, Dr. Ndum also supported the Florida Cancer Specialists Foundation

Foundation.FLCancer.com/DrNdum, which provides non-medical nancial assistance to adult cancer patients in active treatment. In addition, Dr. Ndum supported Judith C. Macko Cancer Resource Center (Cancer Library at Flagler Hospital).

Dr. Ndum is survived by his wife, Flora, and their three children – Bryan, 28, Rodney, 26 and daughter Sonia, who is 14. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Volusia Memorial Funeral Home in Ormond Beach, FL.

For patients who were seeing Dr. Ndum, there will be no interruption in treatment. Dr. Mitchell Weisberg, who has practiced in the area for more than 20 years, will continue seeing Dr. Ndum’s patients at the same FCS of ce. In addition, Dr. Weisberg has been practicing with Dr. Ndum since he joined FCS in January 2017.

Sincerely,
Florida Cancer Specialists
