Vivian Griffin, MD

Vivian Griffin, MD is a Board-certified Radiation Oncologist with Florida Cancer Specialists and Research Institute in Pinellas County.

Dr. Griffin values the long-term friendships she develops with her patients and their families.

She acknowledges that patients are often anxious upon learning that radiation is part of their treatment. Dr. Griffin spends time educating her patients about their disease and how it can be treated, and the progress made in the past 20 years to effectively cure malignant cancers. With the use of intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), one advanced form of radiation therapy, she is able to directly target tumors and other areas at risk for having cancer and spare surrounding organs and normal tissue. This greatly minimizes side effects and toxicities that were once common.

Dr. Griffin received her medical degree from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and completed her residency in Radiation Oncology at Northwestern University in Chicago. She was awarded a fellowship in Radiation Oncology at the Princess Margaret Hospital. Prior to joining Florida Cancer Specialists in 2012, she served as medical director at Mount Sinai Hospital in Chicago. In 2009, she was voted Physician of the Year by her colleagues and staff at Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Illinois.
