Dr. Carrascosa provides care at the state-of-the-art FCS Ocala Cancer Center, which opened in July 2019. It is the first and only comprehensive center of its kind in Marion County, serving patients needing treatment for a broad range of cancers, blood disorders and other diseases. “Because we have the newest, safest and most advanced technology, we can more accurately target tumors, avoid healthy tissue and reduce side effects,” he explains. “Combined with our on-site clinical expertise, we’re able to provide a quick turnaround of results and devise a personalized plan and schedule, which often shortens treatment times and improves patient outcomes.”
Dr. Carrascosa’s goal is to continuously modernize radiation oncology treatments in Ocala by providing evidence-based radiotherapy treatments, including highly sophisticated stereotactic radiosurgery and stereotactic radiotherapy treatments in very short schedules that result in better outcomes, decreased cost and patient convenience. Treatments that were previously as long as nine weeks in duration, can now be delivered in just one week. Additionally, he provides advanced, real-time cardiac protection techniques for the treatment of breast cancer.
Prior to joining Florida Cancer Specialists, Dr. Carrascosa served as a radiation oncologist at Florida Hospital Flagler (now AdventHealth Palm Coast), where he was chief of medicine and chairman of the Cancer Committee. He was also the lead of the Radiosurgery program at the Robert Boissoneault Oncology Institute in Ocala, Florida from 2008 until 2015. He is past president of the Marion County Medical Society.
