Ayman Barakat, MD
Dr. Barakat is a medical oncologist for Florida Cancer Specialists and Research Institute in Spring Hill and Wesley Chapel. During medical school, he completed clinical externships in different fields of Medicine at several leading academic medical centers, including the University of Illinois Hospital and Northwestern University Memorial Hospital in Chicago, as well as Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard University in Boston, MA.
Dr. Barakat received his internal medicine training at Texas Medical Center, University of Texas hospitals, including MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX, which is one of the largest and most prestigious medical centers and is nationally and internationally recognized. He practiced internal medicine for a few years, caring for patients in the Midwest area after which he moved back to Texas to achieve further medical training. There he finished his Fellowship in Hematology and Oncology at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, TX. Dr. Barakat began his private practice as an associate member at the Tulsa Cancer Institute in Tulsa, OK for few years before moving to Florida; he is well published in several recognized medical journals.
Dr. Barakat has chosen to call Florida home, where he resides with his wife and two children. He enjoys swimming and playing basketball with his kids. While Dr. Barakat has a special interest in breast, colorectal and lung malignancies, he does evaluate and treat a broad spectrum of hematological and oncological diseases and takes pride in providing his patients with exceptional care, utilizing the most novel and evidence-based therapies in his practice.
