Kapisthalam S. Kumar, MD, FACP
Dr. Kapisthalam Kumar is an oncologist and hematologist for Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute in Pasco county. One of Dr. Kumar’s primary goals in treating his patients is to make them feel comfortable. After 35 years of providing oncology care in Pasco County, he says he does not want to stop because there are so many significant and exciting breakthroughs impacting all facets of oncology.
Dr. Kumar received his medical degree from Stanley Medical College in Madras, India. He completed residency training and a fellowship in Hematology at the Detroit Medical Center at Wayne State University. He later was awarded a fellowship in Oncology at the University of Miami Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Triple Board-certified in Medical Oncology, Hematology and Internal Medicine, Dr. Kumar also holds certifications from the School of Breast Oncology. He is a past Board member of the Florida Society of Clinical Oncology (FLASCO) and former Chairman of the FLASCO Clinical Practice Committee.
