Physician-Owned Practice Reinforces Commitment to Physician Leadership
Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute Announces 2025-2026 Physician Leadership Appointments
Fort Myers, Fla., September 11, 2025 – Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute, LLC (FCS) announces appointments to physician leadership roles within the statewide practice.
“The evolution of our physician leadership roles reflects the growing depth, breadth, and diversity of expertise across our cancer program,” said Lucio N. Gordan, MD, FCS president & managing physician. “By bringing together physicians from a wide range of specialties, we continue to strengthen our ability to deliver the most advanced treatment modalities through a truly multidisciplinary approach.”
Sachin Kamath, MD, medical director of radiation oncology, has expanded his role to encompass radiology administration. Anton Serafini, MD has been named medical director of clinical radiology. Both are board-certified radiation oncologists.
Dr. Kamath joined FCS in 2015 and has contributed to ongoing advancements in the delivery of evidence-based treatments such as stereotactic radiosurgery and radiotherapy, including radiopharmaceuticals. He contributes widely to clinical research and has earned multiple honors. Dr. Kamath completed his medical training at the University of Florida at Gainesville.
In addition to several faculty appointments, Dr. Serafini has served throughout his career in key leadership positions in private practice, academic and hospital settings. He received his medical degree with research distinction from the University of Miami School of Medicine and was named as chief resident in nuclear medicine during his five-year combined residency in diagnostic radiology and nuclear medicine at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami. He joined FCS in 2024.
Dr. Kamath and Dr. Serafini are among six medical directors at FCS:
