FCS Radiation Oncologist Kunal Saigal, MD Leads New Outpatient Radiation Center in Sarasota

Sarasota Memorial Hospital’s New Radiation Oncology Center

Fort Myers, Fla., July 29, 2020 —— Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute (FCS), is pleased to announce that radiation oncologist, Kunal Saigal, MD will lead the new Sarasota Memorial Radiation Oncology Center, which opens August 3, 2020. The 18,000 square foot outpatient radiation center completes the first phase of the planned community Cancer Institute by Sarasota Memorial Health Care System (SMH), boasting two Varian TrueBeam linear accelerators, which are considered the gold standard for radiation oncology.

Dr. Saigal, who joined FCS in July of 2020 also commended the inclusion of patient perspective in the design of the center. “When this center was constructed,” he said, “there was an extensive amount of feedback that was taken into account from cancer patients who had gone through radiation treatment, so that we could optimize the patient experience. In addition to delivering the most cutting-edge, evidence-based radiation oncology treatments, we wanted to provide the best possible experience to patients, from the moment that they walk in the door, through each treatment that they receive, and even to how they would like to celebrate when they complete their final treatment.”
