The Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute (FCS) Real-World Evidence team offers unique and truly differentiated precision oncology insights and real-world evidence solutions. From preliminary consultation, through study design, clinical end-point review, delivery of rich clinical data set, and comprehensive clinical insights, our Real-World Evidence team uses a thorough, multifaceted, collaborative approach for all study types.
Real-World Evidence Study Types
- Real-World Evidence: Retrospective & prospective data, analysis, and “evergreen” datasets (subscriptions)
- Prospective Studies: ‘Non-interventional’ Patient Reported Outcomes (PROs)
- Quality Improvement: Studies that focus on understanding diagnostic testing patterns, how pharmaceutical products perform in the real-world, identification of improvement opportunities, physician surveys, and development of comprehensive educational and alerting programs to close gaps.
- Health Equity: Health disparities across socio-demographic groups have become critical in ensuring there is access to appropriate care, new therapies, and trials, optimized to socio-demographic classes and/or geographic regions.
- Clinical Research: Identification of patients eligible for research studies; trial/site feasibility assessment, preliminary matching of patients to trials.
- New Product Launch: Identification, notification and monitoring of patients potentially eligible for a new product or existing product approved for a new indication.
- Market Access: Market analysis to understand penetration of the FCS market, and insights to contributing factors, such as physician, patient or payer preferences; presented through dynamic dashboards.
Practice Approach
Our Real-World Evidence team provides feasibilities, collaborates on study design, quality improvement initiatives, and data analysis services. Taking a practice-centered approach allows us develop research objectives, determine clinical endpoints, and strategize to determine the most informative analytic results. Our Real-World Evidence team is also available to assist in publication review and conference representation to help advance Real-World Evidence research.
Our Data
The FCS Real-World Evidence team utilizes industry-leading data science, deep clinical oncology expertise, and physician engagement strategies to gather data and generate insights that help optimize patient care, power clinical research, and transform FCS’ real-world data into the real-world evidence needed for the discovery, development, and approval of new therapies.
FCS is one of the country’s largest community oncology practices conducting over 3 million patient visits annually across almost 100 clinical sites, treating all cancer-related conditions, ranging from extremely rare diagnoses to the more commonly occurring disorders. With 65% of the Florida population living within 20 miles of an FCS clinical site, our patient population is representative of most demographic categories.
The FCS Real-World Evidence team supports physicians’ and clinical researchers’ access to diversified data assets collected from our EMR, practice management, NGS testing, oral oncolytic pharmacy, laboratory, pathology, radiology, and radiation oncology systems. Data gathered as part of our experience caring for more than 350,000 patients annually is standardized against industry reference data and further enriched using external data sources (e.g. admission, discharges, transfers (ADT) feeds, social determinants or health (SDoH), death registries, patient reported outcomes (PROs), and claims) to create a comprehensive longitudinal picture of the health and outcomes of every patient.
Data Curation
Our Data Curation team consists of highly trained oncology nurse data curators and advanced practitioners who have experience in FCS clinics to generate clinical endpoint-focused, high-quality data sets with enriched data and comprehensive analysis services. With direct access not only to the data but also to FCS physicians, our Data Curation team interrogates the data at the point of care to provide insights and drive quality improvement activities that identify and address gaps in care or knowledge to improve quality of care, clinical outcomes, and patient experience.
