Lucio Gordan, MD, President and Managing Physician of Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute (FCS) and Michael Diaz, MD, FCS Assistant Managing Physician and President of the Community Oncology Alliance (COA), will join national oncology leaders at the 2020 Community Oncology Alliance Payer Exchange Summit on Oncology Payment Reform, taking place virtually on October 27-28.

Since June 2016, Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute (FCS) has participated in the Oncology Care Model (OCM), a national innovative payment program designed to lower the costs of cancer care nationwide, while maintaining high-quality enhanced services to Medicare beneficiaries.

Fort Myers, Fla., Oct. 16, 2020  — Michael Diaz, MD, Assistant Managing Physician of Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute (FCS), has been appointed to a two-year term on the prestigious Florida Cancer Control & Research Advisory Council (CCRAB). Established in 1979 by the Florida Legislature, CCRAB is an advisory body that concentrates on the study of cancer and advises the Legislature, Governor and Surgeon General on ways to reduce Florida’s cancer burden. There are 15 members of the Council, each representing a specific group of stakeholders. Dr. Diaz will serve as the new Association of Community Cancer Centers appointee.

Fort Myers, Fla., Oct. 12, 2020 — Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute (FCS) opened a new facility at 4801 South Congress Ave., Lake Worth, FL 33461 to provide comprehensive treatments and a variety of services to adults with cancer and other diseases. The new location replaces the previous FCS clinic at 5507 South Congress Ave., Suite 130, Atlantis, FL 33462.

Walcker has been named Chief Executive Officer, effective August 1, 2020. Walcker will succeed current Chief Executive Officer Brad Prechtl, MBA, who will retire from FCS, effective July 30, 2020, but continue to serve as a consultant through April 2021.

Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute (FCS) recently celebrated the start of construction of its new Trinity Cancer Center. When complete in early 2021, the 37,000 square foot facility will include radiation oncology and next-generation PET/CT imaging technology along with 27 exam rooms and 52 chairs for chemotherapy and other infusions. Patients will also have access to participate in cutting-edge clinical trial research.
