Tampa General Hospital (TGH), the Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute (FCS), Proton Therapy Partners and Florida Urology Partners today announced a new collaborative partnership with plans to build a proton therapy center in Tampa Bay that would offer patients across the West Coast of Florida access to an advanced alternative to conventional radiation treatment for cancer and within the convenience of their own backyard.

FCS received a three-year accreditation from the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers, a quality program of the American College of Surgeons. 

Three medical oncologists at FCS are co-authors on a new integrated safety analysis of umbralisib, used to treat lymphoid malignancies.

Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute (FCS) recently expanded its molecular testing capabilities at its state-of-the-art Pathology Laboratory in Fort Myers and is providing patients with clinical next-generation sequencing (NGS) that are offered at FCS clinics throughout Florida. NGS testing is available for testing of solid tumors and hematologic malignancies and lymph nodes.

Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute (FCS) is pleased to announce that Michael Diaz, MD will assume the role of President & Managing Physician, effective January 1, 2022. He succeeds Lucio Gordan, MD, who has served in that position since 2018. Dr. Gordan will continue to practice as a medical oncologist at the FCS Gainesville Cancer Center and serve as Chief Medical Officer of Therapeutics and Analytics for the statewide practice.
