Mahender Yellu, MD, MBBS, MHA
Dr. Yellu is an oncologist and hematologist for Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute in Highlands and Polk Counties. He earned his medical degree from the Gandhi Medical College (India) and completed his Internal Medicine Residency at University of Brooklyn/St. John’s Episcopal Hospital (Brooklyn, New York). After his residency, Dr. Mahender Yellu worked as an inpatient medical doctor before accepting a research/clinical medicine position in bone marrow transplantation at University of Cincinnati College of Medicine (Cincinnati, Ohio). In addition to being involved in various clinical research projects, he taught and mentored medical students. He was later awarded a Fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine (Cincinnati, Ohio). After receiving his medical degree, he obtained his Masters in Health and Health Care Administration from the Western Kentucky University (Bowling Green, Kentucky).
As a respected cancer researcher, Dr. Yellu is actively engaged in several clinical studies; he has also served as a peer reviewer and has been published in several professional journals, such as Clinical Lymphoma Myeloma & Leukemia, and Hematological Oncology.
Dr. Yellu, stated, “I have chosen a tough career as a cancer specialist, but I feel more satisfied in overcoming the challenges encountered while treating my patients. I believe positive outcome could be achieved by involving the patient and their loved ones in every step of treatment”
