Oncology Leaders Champion Innovation and Collaboration To Advance Cancer Care Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute Hosts 2025 Clinical Summit
Fort Myers, Fla., October 9, 2025 – Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute, LLC (FCS) physicians, clinical practice providers and executive leaders will gather this week for the 2025 Clinical Summit. The three-day event, hosted annually by the statewide practice, centers on connecting, exploring, and learning to advance the experience of cancer patients, with an emphasis on improving care and expanding treatment options.
Lucio N. Gordan, MD, FCS president & managing physician, said, “Our annual Clinical Summit is a chance to strengthen connections, share progress on key initiatives, and highlight best practices and research breakthroughs. It reflects our shared commitment to leading community oncology and ensuring patients have convenient access to world-class care.”
An in-depth session custom designed for FCS and presented by Dr. Neil Love’s Research to Practice® program, will take a deep dive into the practical application of new data and recent medical research for the treatment of a wide range of cancers, ranging from HR-positive breast and prostate cancers to lung cancer, lymphomas, and other blood diseases.
Keynote speakers for the 2025 FCS Clinical Summit are Liza Marshall, a breast cancer survivor and founder of Hope Connections for Cancer Support, devoted to helping patients and caregivers navigating the cancer journey, and Dr. John Marshall, an internationally recognized expert in gastrointestinal cancers and founder of the Otto J. Ruesch Center for the Cure of GI Cancers.
The couple co-authored Off Our Chests (2021), an award-winning book that explores the emotional, physical, and spiritual impact of cancer from both patient and caregiver perspectives, blending Liza’s candid journey with Dr. Marshall’s reflections as oncologist-turned-caregiver.
Another highlight of the event will be a unique fireside chat session featuring Chaunté Lowe, four-time Olympian, three-time world championship medalist, and 12-time U.S. national champion. Lowe, a former FCS patient, will share her saga of conquering insurmountable odds, including triumphing over breast cancer.
“We are grateful for the privilege of hearing from these truly extraordinary individuals whose lives have been profoundly shaped by cancer,” said FCS CEO Ryan Ciarrocchi. “Their experiences provide insight and inspiration for all of us that ultimately enriches the experience we deliver to our patients.”
“As colleagues we look forward to this opportunity to immerse ourselves in learning, collaboration, and discovery,” said FCS Assistant Managing Physician David Wenk, MD. “The advancements we explore and the insights we share reflect the remarkable progress we are making together and the exciting future ahead.”
More than 250 physicians and 280 nurse practitioners and physician assistants provide care to patients with all forms of cancer and blood disorders at nearly 100 FCS locations across Florida.
