William McGarry, MD
William McGarry, MD, is a board-certified hematologist and medical oncologist for Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute in Indian River county. He has been providing care to patients for more than 20 years. In addition to private practice, he has held academic appointments and served as section chief, hematology/oncology at Cleveland Clinic Indian River Medical Center from 2018 to 2022. He joined Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute in 2023.
Dr. McGarry received his medical degree from the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville and completed internal medicine residency training at UF Health Shands Hospital. He was awarded fellowships in medical oncology and medical hematology at the University of Texas in Houston/MD Anderson Cancer Center.
As an active community volunteer throughout his career, Dr. McGarry helped to establish emergency relief clinics in Haiti following devastating earthquakes in 2010, and he continues to serve as a board member for the Haiti Clinic. He is a past recipient of the American Cancer Society Hope Award.
