Steven G. Lester, MD
Dr. Steven Lester is a board-certified radiation oncologist with Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute (FCS), providing care to patients in Orlando and Sanford, Florida.
Dr. Lester received his medical degree from Louisiana State University in Shreveport, LA. He completed his internship and residency in Radiation Oncology at Indiana University Hospitals, where he also served as Chief Resident. During his training, Dr. Lester authored several research papers on testicular cancer and intraoperative radiotherapy.
After completing his radiation oncology training, Dr. Lester returned to his home state of Louisiana to join the Department of Radiation Oncology at Ochsner Clinic in New Orleans. While there, he served as assistant director of Ochsner Cancer Institute and as acting chairman of Radiation Oncology and was also involved in clinical research.
Dr. Lester has been serving the Central Florida community since 1988. In 2004, he co-founded, with his partner, Dr. John Looper, Central Florida Cancer Care Center in Sanford. Among his many professional affiliations, he is a fellow of the American College of Radiation Oncology and serves on the Executive Committee of the Association of Independent Doctors.
His outside interests include LSU football, the New Orleans Saints, tennis, spending time with his wife and two daughters and visiting his son, a radiation oncologist on the faculty at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.
