Raju Rao, MD
Dr. Raju Rao is an Oncologist for Florida Cancer Specialists and Research Institute in Hernando County. He describes himself as an optimist who always like to see what can be done and what is possible. Throughout his career he has been part of the steady strides that have extended survivorship with treatments that are better tolerated so patients can achieve the best outcomes and enjoy their best quality of life.
Dr. Rao received his medical degree from Universidad Mundial Dominicana in the Dominican Republic. He completed Internal Medicine residency training at Episcopal Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and a fellowship in Hematology at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York, New York. He is Board-certified in Hematology, Medical Oncology and Internal Medicine.
Since 1992, Dr. Rao has participated in numerous clinical studies involving solid tumors, hematology tumors, bone metastases, pain, anemia and monoclonal antibodies and other diseases as a sub-investigator and investigator.
Prior to joining Florida Cancer Specialists in 2013, he provided oncology and hematology care and served as Laboratory Director with cancer Care Centers of Florida in New Port Richey.
