Patrick Acevedo, MD
Dr. Patrick Acevedo is a Medical Oncologist and Hematologist for Florida Cancer Specialists and Research Institute in Marion and Sumter counties. Dr. Acevedo describes himself as an optimist. Ongoing treatment advances are enabling him to take a more directed approach in the care of his patients. Targeted therapies, such as immunotherapies that harness the patient’s own immune system to recognize and kill cancer cells, are increasingly improving outcomes and providing a higher quality of life for patients.
After receiving his medical degree from Sydney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Dr. Acevedo completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine and a fellowship in Hematology and Medical Oncology at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital / Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. He is Board-certified in Medical Oncology and Hematology.
Dr. Acevedo is an active participant, serving as a sub-investigator in clinical trial research conducted at FCS. His work has been published in numerous industry journals, including peer-reviewed publications, and presented at professional conferences. He joined Florida Cancer Specialists in 2012 and previously provided oncology care to patients in the Ocala, Florida area. Dr. Acevedo resides in Ocala with his wife and children. He enjoys gardening, skiing and fly-fishing.
