Paresh Patel, MD

Dr. Patel is an oncologist and hematologist with Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute in Leon County.

He attended B.J. Medical College and graduated with first class honors. He then completed his internal medicine residency at Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune, New Jersey, where he was recognized with an award for excellence in clinical research. Dr. Patel participated as a clinical investigator in many clinical trials during his time in training. His residency was followed by a one-year chief medical residency, where his leadership and natural gift for teaching were highly valued by his fellow residents.

Dr. Patel also has experience as an academic hospitalist and was an assistant professor at Virginia Commonwealth University for several years. It was at this time that Dr. Patel gravitated toward his true calling and decided to pursue a hospice and palliative care fellowship, followed by a hematology and oncology fellowship. He is quadruple board-certified in medical oncology, hematology, internal medicine, and hospice and palliative care.

A member of the FCS Executive Board, Dr. Patel also serves as vice chair of the FCS Quality Committee and on the FCS Compliance Committee. In 2021, he was named Advocate of the Year by the Florida Society of Clinical Oncology (FLASCO). As FLASCO Legislative Committee chair since 2018, Dr. Patel plays a leadership role to foster relationships with legislators and key policy makers, advocating on behalf of cancer patients and providers and serving as an expert resource on oncology issues.
