Marcia M Schmidt, MD

Dr. Schmidt is a board-certified gynecologic oncologist and breast surgeon with Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute in Palm Beach County.

Dr. Schmidt provides personalized care for patients with all types of breast and gynecologic cancers. She has a special interest in gynecologic malignancies and complex benign gynecologic diseases and is skilled at minimally-invasive robotic surgery. Additionally, she is a specialist in obstetrics and gynecology and has sub-specialty fellowship training in breast surgery and pelvic surgery.

After completing medical school at Upstate Medical University at the State University of New York in Syracuse and a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Winthrop University Hospital in Mineola, New York, Dr. Schmidt pursued advanced training to further develop her clinical and surgical expertise.

She was awarded fellowships in pelvic surgery at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, in gynecologic oncology at the University of South Florida Moffit Cancer Center in Tampa, and in breast surgery at Brown University Women and Infants Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island. She has completed an intensive course in genetic cancer risk assessment through the City of Hope Clinical Cancer Genomics Division.

Dr. Schmidt has earned numerous honors in the fields of gynecology, oncology, and medical research as well as recognition for excellence during her residency and surgical training. Early in her academic career, Dr. Schmidt was selected for a competitive scholar program supporting minority access to research careers.

Prior to joining FCS in 2025, Dr. Schmidt was a gynecologic oncologist and breast surgeon with Ascension Medical Group in Jacksonville, Florida. She has held clinical teaching positions in the departments of obstetrics and gynecology at Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta and at Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Dr. Schmidt is a fellow of the American Congress of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the American College of Surgeons and maintains membership in the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists, the Society of Surgical Oncologists, and the American Society of Breast Surgeons.
