Jennifer Byer, MD
Dr. Jennifer Byer is a medical oncologist for Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute in Indian River county. She earned her medical degree and completed her internal medicine residency at USF Health Morsani College of Medicine in Tampa. In 2014, she was awarded a fellowship in hematology/oncology at Moffitt Cancer Center.
With a keen interest in clinical research, Dr. Byer has presented at various medical meetings, including the Gastrointestinal Cancers Symposium in California and the Infectious Diseases Society of America in Philadelphia, PA. Also, she has written review articles and has been published in several peer-reviewed journals.
Throughout her career, Dr. Byer has volunteered in her local community and beyond, including the USF BRIDGE Clinic and the Latin Medical Student Association (LMSA) Medical Mission Team.

Dr. Jennifer Byer earned her medical degree and completed her Internal Medicine residency at the University of South Florida (USF) in Tampa, FL. In 2014, she was awarded a Fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at the Moffitt Cancer Center/University of South Florida. Afterward, she returned to Vero Beach, where her family lives, and her father is a practicing radiation oncologist. Dr. Byer is passionate about research, but what really keeps her going is her relationships with patients and their families. Dr. Byer provides care to FCS patients in Sebastian and Vero Beach locations.
After experiencing nervousness and anxiety in waiting rooms during her mother’s cancer journey, Rachel Clark was inspired to make the experience better for others. Now, every month, in her mother’s memory, Rachel delivers a flower and a note to FCS Medical Oncologist/Hematologist Dr. Jennifer Byer to be given to one of her patients that day.
