Hyon Jeong Kim, MD, PhD

Dr. Kim is a board certified Medical Oncologist and Hematologist for Florida Cancer Specialists and Research Institute in Hillsborough County. As a hospitalist, Dr. Kim specializes in providing in-patient care and support for patients who are hospitalized.

After earning her doctorate in genetics and cell biology from the University of Minnesota in St. Paul/Minneapolis, MN, Hyon Jeong Kim, MD, PhD received her medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical Center. She completed her residency in internal medicine at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, which is where she was awarded a fellowship in hematology/oncology.

Prior to joining FCS, Dr. Kim held leadership positions with Benign Hematology, University of Cincinnati Adult Sickle Cell Center, as assistant professor at the University of Cincinnati and staff physician at Cincinnati VAMC.

Dr. Kim has a strong interest in research with a focus on sickle cell diseases, which were a focus of her lectures at the 2016 Internal Medicine Grand Round, the 2017 Hematology/Oncology Grand Round and for the University of Cincinnati Medical School curriculum. She is a member of American Society of Hematology (ASH) and the Association of VA Hematology Oncology.
