Adewale A. Fawole, MD
Dr. Fawole is a board-certified hematologist and oncologist for Florida Cancer Specialists and Research Institute in Lake County and Sumter County.
Dr. Fawole has extensive clinical experience in the treatment of cancers of the breast, lung, prostate, bladder, kidney, gastrointestinal system, ovary, uterus, skin, bone, head & neck, and brain. He also treats patients with lymphomas, leukemia, multiple myeloma, anemia, blood clots, and other blood disorders. Dr. Fawole stays abreast of the rapidly evolving world of cancer treatment. He utilizes immunotherapy and targeted therapies such as bispecific antibodies. He focuses on providing patients with personalized treatment plans that fit their cancer without neglecting the quality of their lives or their loved ones. He uses current knowledge in cancer genetics to help prevent cancer and cancer recurrence in patients and their families.
After completing his internal medicine residency training at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, Dr. Fawole pursued hematology and medical oncology fellowship training at the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine in Michigan, where he served as a chief fellow. In recognition of his dedication to the care of cancer patients, Dr. Fawole received the Freeman Wilner Foundation’s Compassionate Care Award.
Before joining FCS, Dr. Fawole served as an assistant professor and attending physician in the Division of Hematology at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center (OSUCC)-James Cancer Hospital in Columbus, where he mentored trainee physicians while also collaborating with other specialists. Dr. Fawole’s research work has included colon cancer, lymphoma, brain cancer, multiple myeloma, and other cancer-related conditions. His works have been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Clinical Oncology. He remains an avid cancer researcher and a principal investigator in many ongoing clinical trials at FCS. He is committed to patient education, which he does through many local cancer support groups.
Dr. Fawole enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, traveling, reading, and playing soccer.
