Welcomes Medical Oncologists & Hematologists Shannon Stockton, MD and James Wert, DO
Fort Myers, Fla., August 4, 2025 – Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute, LLC (FCS) welcomes medical oncologists and hematologists Shannon Stockton, MD and James Wert, DO to its statewide practice.
Dr. Stockton is providing care to patients at the FCS Bardmoor clinic, 8787 Bryan Dairy Rd., Ste. 210, Largo, FL 33777-1253, and the FCS Highland clinic, 100 Highland Ave. N., Largo, FL 33770-2542.
She has a specialized focus on the treatment of gastrointestinal tumors and breast cancer. She graduated with honors from the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville and received numerous accolades throughout her medical training. Dr. Stockton was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) National Medical Honor Society during her internal medicine residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, in recognition of her commitment and contributions to high quality patient care, leadership, service and scholarship.
During her hematology/oncology fellowship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, she was presented with the Outstanding Hematology/Oncology Fellow Award from the Tennessee Oncology Practice Society for her original research on the evolution of Phase 1 clinical trials in the era of precision oncology.

Dr. Wert is providing care to patients at the FCS Trinity Cancer Center, 9320 State Road 54, Trinity, FL 34655, FCS Hudson, 7651 Medical Dr., Hudson, FL 34667 and FCS Hudson North, 14100 Fivay Rd., Ste. 380, Hudson, FL 34667.
A cum laude graduate of the Campbell University School of Osteopathic Medicine in Lillington, North Carolina, Dr. Wert completed internal medicine residency training at AdventHealth Orlando and a hematology/oncology fellowship at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.
