Olympian and Breast Cancer Survivor Inspires the Next Generation of Champions
Chaunté Lowe is a four-time Olympian, three-time World Champion medalist and 12-time U.S. National Champion women’s high jumper. She’s also a wife, mother, motivational speaker and breast cancer survivor.
As one of 14 members of the U.S. presidential delegation to the 2024 Paris Olympics, led by First Lady Jill Biden and Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff, Chaunté was again in the Olympic spotlight — not as an athlete, but to inspire “the next generation of champions.”
She’s well qualified for the role.
Despite being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2019, Chaunté continued her training while undergoing treatment under the care of Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute medical oncologist Muhammad Imam, MD in Winter Park, Florida.
During her cancer journey, which she describes as her “greatest challenge ever,” Chaunté was driven by the two things that led her to accomplish her dream of becoming a professional athlete – hard work and perseverance. “No matter how hard or how long, you never give up,” she says.
Today Chaunté is a highly sought-after motivational speaker who delivers an inspiring message about resilience, reminding others of the power and potential in each of us. Chaunté graciously took time after returning from Paris to share her thoughts on what the experience means to her.
