Nikhita Kathuria-Prakash, MD

Dr. Kathuria-Prakash is a medical oncologist and hematologist with Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute in Columbia County, Florida.

Dr. Kathuria-Prakash believes that mutual decision-making between the patient and provider is the foundation of a successful therapeutic relationship, especially in conditions as life-changing as cancer.

Dr. Kathuria-Prakash completed medical school, residency training and a fellowship in hematology/oncology at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). She led and contributed to multiple clinical research initiatives across UCLA and the School of Medicine at the University of California, Irvine.

At the UCLA Genitourinary Oncology & Immunotoxicity Research Group, Dr. Kathuria-Prakash led an independent, grant-funded project on immune-related adverse events, served as a resident researcher on a multi-center study examining COVID-19 outcomes in cancer patients and, at the UCLA Barbra Streisand Women’s Heart Health Program, worked on projects aimed at improving cardiovascular outcomes in underserved women. She has published and presented numerous articles detailing her research findings and mentorship experiences.

During medical school training, Dr. Kathuria-Prakash taught doctoring and problem-based learning courses and mentored and tutored medical students in their clinical experiences. She served for one year as head tutor in the David Geffen School of Medicine Learning Skills Center.

Dr. Kathuria-Prakash is committed to community service, with a focus on aiding impoverished people. She serves as medical officer for the Sadhu Seva Foundation, which distributes food, clothing, medical supplies and shelter to impoverished people and animals in Vrindavan, India.

A Bhakti yoga practitioner, Dr. Kathuria-Prakash enjoys vegan/vegetarian cooking and baking as well as hiking and traveling, especially with her husband and two children.
