Awais Khan, MD
Awais Khan, M.D., is a board certified in medical oncology and internal medicine. Dr. Khan completed his residency at the University of South Florida College of Medicine. During his residency, he also trained at the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, where he was the recipient of the American Society of Hematology Research Award. Dr. Khan completed training as a fellow in hematology and oncology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Comprehensive Cancer Center Division of Hematology and Oncology.
His research activities have included the topics of adoptive T-cell immunotherapy in cancer, prostate and bladder cancer, lung cancer, and leukemia, as well as transfusion outcomes in a Level I Trauma Center. Also, he has articles published in the areas of leukemia and bladder cancer. Dr. Khan has presented his research at the American Society of Hematology and American Society of Clinical Oncology meetings.
Dr. Khan's motivation to become an oncologist came from his experiences early on in his medical training. He found it to be immensely rewarding to take care of the most vulnerable and ill patients. The science of treating cancer is rapidly advancing, and patients have many new revolutionary treatment options. He considers it to be his privilege to take care of his patients during challenging times and offer them the latest cancer therapies. Dr. Khan strongly believes in the interdisciplinary approach to treating cancer and blood diseases. He closely collaborates with physicians from other specialties to provide the best possible care for his patients.
Dr. Khan is a member of the American Society of Hematology, American Society of Clinical Oncology, American College of Physicians, and the American Medical Association.
