“Sit in My Chair” Program Allows Policymakers to Learn the Critical Issues Facing the Delivery of Cancer Care and Treatment

Florida Cancer Specialists (FCS) recently showed policymakers the firsthand benefits of local cancer care and what it’s like to face a cancer diagnosis and treatment in a community oncology setting. The experience called “Sit in My Chair,” allowed policymakers to learn the critical issues facing the delivery of cancer care and treatment. The tours were coordinated in conjunction with the Community Oncology Alliance (COA) and their Patient Advisory Network (CPAN). Representatives spent time in several FCS clinics throughout Florida that included Alachua, Lee, Collier and Pinellas counties. Spokespeople from the offices of Senator Marco Rubio and Senator Rick Scott as well as Congressman Rep. Gus Bilirakis met with physicians and clinical teams during their visits.
