The opening of the new FCS Lakewood Ranch Cancer Center was celebrated today with a ribbon cutting ceremony.  FCS executive leaders, physicians, staff and patients and community leaders participated.

FCS has relocated and expanded its former Lakewood Ranch clinic to provide a more comfortable environment for patients.  Four Board-certified medical oncologists and a team of advanced practitioners, nurses and clinical support staff are providing care at the region’s newest cancer center, which features 10 exam rooms and 38 chemotherapy chairs in over 10,000 square feet of space, as well as access to cutting-edge clinical trials research.

“This is a significant new location for us,” said FCS CEO Brad Prechtl, MBA. “Cancer has and will continue to touch the lives of every member of this diverse and growing multi-generational community. FCS provides world-class cancer care close to where they live and work and where their loved ones and support networks are close by.”

Medical Oncologist Miguel Pelayo, MD thanked the many patients and members of the Patient Advisory Group in attendance. “You are why we are here.  You place your faith in us, and we value that,” he said. “We stand ready to help you.”

Dom DiMaio, president & CEO of the Lakewood Ranch Business Alliance, acknowledged the new FCS Lakewood Ranch Cancer Center as “part of our building blocks and integral to helping us build our community.”

The new office also houses the Florida Cancer Specialists Foundation, a nonprofit that provides financial assistance to eligible cancer patients for essential, non-medical living expenses.
