Florida Hospital Waterman Cancer Institute and Florida Cancer Specialists Partner to Lead the Fight Against Cancer in Lake County

 

Tavares, FL – October 13, 2016……… Florida Hospital Waterman Cancer Institute and Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute (FCS) have entered a new agreement that will strengthen and expand advanced oncology services in Lake County.

“Florida Hospital Waterman and Florida Cancer Specialists have a long-standing history as partners in the fight against cancer care,” said David Ottati, President and Chief Executive Officer for Florida Hospital Waterman. “The formalization of the partnership helps us further expand collaboration and programs to enhance cancer care available locally in Lake County.”

While Florida Hospital Waterman Cancer Institute and FCS locally have had a longstanding relationship, including shared office space inside the Florida Hospital Waterman Cancer Institute, the new alliance will provide more opportunity for physicians and specialists to work collaboratively while also giving more patients access to the comprehensive Cancer Institute’s support services. Additionally, the partnership will help ensure coordinated oncology care for inpatients at Florida Hospital Waterman guaranteeing they have access to some of the region’s most advanced treatments and clinical trials.

Dr. Maen Hussein, a medical oncologist and Executive Board Member with Florida Cancer Specialists, said, “Collaboration between all the physicians and other team members who are treating a patient is not only best practice, it also ensures the quality of care is at the highest level. We want our patients to have a seamless experience, whether they are seeing a medical oncologist, a radiation oncologist or a surgical oncologist.”

Florida Cancer Specialists is the largest independent medical oncology/hematology practice in the United States.
