Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute Welcomes Dr. Rasha Beg
Nation’s Largest Independent Medical Oncology/Hematology Practice Adds Hospitalist in Volusia County
Orange City, FL – April 1, 2016……… Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute (FCS), the leading community oncology/hematology practice in the state, is pleased to announce Rasha Beg, MD, has joined the practice as a hospitalist and will be seeing FCS patients who require hospitalization at any of three hospital locations. Dr. Beg will have privileges at Florida Hospital Deland, Central Florida Regional Sanford and at Fish Memorial in Orange City, FL.
FCS CEO Brad Prechtl said, "Dr. Beg will bring an added dimension to our practice locations in Volusia County, focusing on bridging the continuum of care we offer for our patients who must be hospitalized. We are happy to have her join the FCS family.”
Dr. William Harwin, Founder and President of FCS, added, “Dr. Beg comes to us with excellent credentials and is board-certified in Medical Oncology and Internal Medicine. She has a broad experience in hospital care and I know she will be a great complement to our physicians in Deland and Orange City."
Senior partner Dr. Victor Melgen, who practices in both Deland and Orange City, explained, “Dr. Beg will ensure there is a seamless continuation of care for our patients who are hospitalized. She will work directly with the FCS physicians in our community cancer centers and, through our Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system, she will be able to access patients’ charts immediately to continue their treatment plan and augment their care while they are in the hospital.”
Dr. Rasha Beg completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, NJ and Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. She was awarded a Fellowship in Medical Oncology at Scott and White Memorial Hospital in Temple, TX, where she provided both inpatient and outpatient care, as well as consultative services; she also helped to build and implement the cancer program for the hospital. She has been a practicing in Florida since 2008 and has worked in both clinical and hospital settings.
