Florida Cancer Specialists Participates in FLASCO Fall Session
Statewide gathering addresses current and future challenges in cancer care
Fort Myers, Fla., November 14, 2019 – Physicians and leaders of Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute (FCS) participated in the Florida Society of Clinical Oncology (FLASCO) Fall Session held in Orlando, Nov. 7 – 9. The two-day statewide gathering of nearly 200 oncology physicians, clinicians and support staff featured dynamic educational presentations and case studies focused on colon cancer, multiple myeloma and other cancers, and stressed the importance of collaboration among all professional health care teams.
FCS Board-certified Medical Oncologist Dr. Eric Harris, FLASCO Board member and Program Committee chairman, moderated the general scientific session. Other FCS leaders who participated in the Fall Session include:
- Wendy Migliore Sanchez, MSN, APRN, AOCNP-BC, oncology nurse practitioner with FCS, moderated a session on Oncologic Emergencies in the APP/Nurse/Navigator track.
- FCS Business Office Manager Arletis Mayonada served as a panelist for a session focused on prior authorization challenges in the Administrator Educational track.
- Carie Colby, FCS associate director of revenue cycle, gave a luncheon presentation about empowering employees to enhance the patient experience and create positive change.
