FCS Welcomes New Physician | Dr. Elizabeth Guancial

 

Sarasota, FL – August 1st, 2018. . . Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute (FCS), the largest community oncology/hematology practice in the state, is pleased to announce that medical oncologist Elizabeth Guancial, MD, has joined the statewide practice and will be practicing at Sarasota Downtown, located at 1970 Golf Street, Sarasota, Florida 34236, on August 1st, 2018.

FCS CEO Brad Prechtl, MBA said, “Dr. Guancial trained at some of the highest-ranked medical schools and cancer centers in the nation and will bring great expertise and stature as a medical oncologist and hematologist serving our patients in Sarasota County. We are very pleased to have her join the FCS family.”

Dr. William Harwin, Founder and President of FCS, added, “Dr. Guancial will be a great asset to our physicians at our office in downtown Sarasota. She also has demonstrated a focus on clinical research, which is critical in providing the best care for our patients."

Dr. Elizabeth Guancial is board-certified in internal medicine, medical oncology/hematology and has special interests in cancers of the bladder, kidney, testicle, and prostate. Dr. Guancial earned her medical degree from the Harvard School of Medicine (Boston, MA) and completed her Internal Medicine Residency at the Massachusetts General Hospital. After her residency, she was awarded a Fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at the world-renowned Dana Farber Cancer Institute, located in Boston, MA.

In addition to her academic achievements, Dr. Guancial received research grants from the Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network, University of Rochester Medical Center and the New York State Empire Clinical Research Investigator Program. As a cancer researcher, Dr. Elizabeth Guancial is actively engaged in clinical studies, has been published in several peer-reviewed journals and previously served as a peer reviewer for the European Oncology & Hematology Journal and the British Journal of Urology.
