Marays Veliz, MD
During her medical training, Dr. Marays Veliz was touched by the strength of patients diagnosed with cancer. Her father’s own cancer diagnosis further inspired her decision to specialize in Oncology. She considers it an honor to be part of her patients’ care and finds it rewarding to draw on the many options that are now available to personalize treatment plans that allow them to enjoy their best quality of life.
Dr. Veliz received her medical degree from Instituto Superior de Ciencias Medicas de La Habana in Havana, Cuba. She completed Internal Medicine residency training, and was named as Chief Resident, at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Newark. She was awarded a fellowship in Oncology/Hematology at the University of South Florida H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa. Dr. Veliz is Board-certified in Medical Oncology, Hematology and Internal Medicine. She joined Florida Cancer Specialists in 2013.
