Idelfia Marte, MD
Dr. Idelfia Marte is an oncologist and hematologist for Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute in Pinellas county. She finds the practice of medical oncology very rewarding. Dr. Marte strives to provide her patients with the utmost care and compassion at every step of their cancer journey. Patients are increasingly living many years longer with better quality of life, thanks to the availability of targeted therapies that can individualize each patient’s unique type of cancer.
Clinical research is very important to Dr. Marte, and she has been actively involved in clinical trial research throughout her career, serving as a principal investigator and sub-investigator on numerous Phase 1 and 2 studies.
Dr. Marte is board-certified in Medical Oncology, Hematology and Internal Medicine. She received her medical degree from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Stony Brook School of Medicine and received Internal Medicine residency training at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center, an affiliate of Columbia University in New York, NY. She completed a fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at New York University Medical Center.
Throughout her professional career she has served in a variety of institutional and academic positions, including as Chief of Medical Oncology/Hematology at Mease Countryside Hospital in Safety Harbor, FL and as an Assistant Professor at the University of South Florida.
