Hitesh Patel, MD
Dr. Patel is a board-certified oncologist and hematologist with Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute in Pinellas County. He says that being a medical oncologist is “very gratifying,” and he values the very personal and family-like relationships he develops with his patients.
Dr. Patel describes this as the most exciting time in the field of oncology, as many more patients are surviving cancer with a great quality of life. Ongoing advancements in personalized medicine are enabling him to individually select treatments for patients based on their unique genetics and the make-up and behavior of their particular cancer.
After receiving his medical degree from Kasturba Medical College in Karnataka, India, Dr. Patel completed internal medicine residency training at Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York and a fellowship in hematology/oncology at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center at the University of South Florida College of Medicine in Tampa.
Dr. Patel joined FCS in 2011. He became a member of the FCS Executive Board in 2023 and serves on the Finance Committee.
