Amit I. Shah, MD
Dr. Shah is a board-certified oncologist for Florida Cancer Specialists and Research Institute in Highlands County. He has been providing care to patients in Sebring, Florida for more than 35 years. Dr. Shah describes this as a great time to be in the oncology field, given the dramatic strides made over the past 20 years in treating many of the most common cancers.
In addition to the medical care he provides to his patients, Dr. Shah places great importance on the involvement of family members to lend supportive care. He goes out of his way to help patients and families understand the benefits of healthy lifestyle changes such as diet, exercise and smoking cessation, especially for those receiving chemotherapy or immunotherapy treatment, as well as cancer survivors.
Dr. Shah received his medical degree from B.J. Medical College in Ahmedabad, India. Following his residency training, he was awarded a fellowship in Oncology at the VA Medical Center in Washington, D.C. and a fellowship in Oncology/Hematology at Pennsylvania Medical Center in Philadelphia.
