Anjan J. Patel, MD

Dr. Patel is a board-certified medical oncologist and hematologist with Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute in Sarasota County.

He is known for his thoughtful, compassionate approach and for taking the time to listen, explain, and guide patients and families through every step of care.

He earned his undergraduate degree with highest honors from the University of Florida and his medical degree from the Florida State University College of Medicine. Dr. Patel completed his internal medicine training at Georgetown University Hospital and Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC, followed by fellowship training in hematology and oncology at the University of Florida.

Beyond his clinical practice, Dr. Patel leads efforts that benefit patients. As Director of Pharmacy and Therapeutics at FCS, he ensures access to advanced, evidence-based treatments. He also serves as the Medical Oncology Lead for Gastrointestinal and Rectal Cancers at Sarasota Memorial Hospital and an Associate Professor at Florida State University College of Medicine.

Dr. Patel has published in leading international medical journals, including The Lancet Oncology, JAMA Oncology, and the Journal of Clinical Oncology.

Outside of medicine, he enjoys traveling, scuba diving, hiking, reading, and spending time with his wife and two children.
