This is a PRN position based in Venice.
Reports To: Office Manager
Position Summary: Assists physician in the care and teaching of patients.
Required Qualifications: Registered Nurse, licensed in the State of Florida, with experience in IV therapy. Experience with hematology/oncology patients in a clinic or hospital is required. Ability to assess patient needs and condition is essential. Must have strong critical thinking skills, as well as the ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Current CPR & BLS certifications are required. Fluency in the English language with excellent oral and written communication skills is required. Valid Florida drivers license for travel to clinics.
Key Performance Areas:
1. Safely and accurately mix and administer chemotherapeutic agents to patients as ordered by FCS physicians. Will use ONS standards and guidelines. Accurate and safe disposal of biohazardous waste, per OSHA and HRS guidelines.
2. Responsible for on going patient assessment.
3. Documentation: Thorough and accurate documentation in OncoEMR of treatment rendered to patients. Ensure appropriate charges are captured by following guidelines for appropriate administration of all medications.
4. Will follow the FCS I.D. policy and procedure with every patient encounter.
5. Teaching: Act as moderator/instructor for chemotherapy classes as needed. Educate patients and (when appropriate), family about medications, side effects and planned treatment course. Interact with patient and family in a caring, professional manner.
6. Telephone triage: Includes prioritizing incoming calls and messages from patients, family members, hospitals, nursing facilities, pharmacies and physician offices from emergent to non-urgent. Must respond accordingly in an appropriate time frame.
7. Supplies: Includes assisting with inventory and re-stocking medical supplies, when called upon. Recommend purchase of new items as needed. Place stock in storage areas in a timely manner.
8. Nucleus: Have working knowledge of dispensing medications via Nucleus. Able to perform cycle count. Restock medications within appropriate time frame. Enters all appropriate patient charges into Nucleus.
9. Meetings: Attend annual Safety / OSHA training meetings. Attend all mandatory staff meetings as necessary.
- Maintain and ensure the confidentiality of all patient and employee information at all times.
- Assist in training new employees to related job duties.
- Will be expected to work at any FCS location to help meet FCS business needs.
13.Complies with all federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to patient privacy, patient’s rights, personnel law, safety, labor, and employment law. Adheres to FCS and departmental policies and procedures, including IT policies and procedures and Disaster Plan.

Essential Physical Requirements:
· Ability to travel independently throughout the facility to access information from other departments.
· Excellent manual dexterity for starting IVs and administering treatment to patients. Must be able to reach, grasp, handle and write.
· Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, kneel, climb, reach above head, lift, carry, push/pull, and respond quickly in order to perform patient care quickly.
· Ability to lift and assist patients in and out of wheelchairs and treatment chairs.
· Must be able to see clearly, hear normal and soft tones, (auscultation) and speak clearly.
