Reports To: Office Manager

Position Summary: Assists physician in the care and teaching of patients.
 
Required Qualifications:  Registered Nurse, licensed in the State of Florida, with experience in IV therapy. Experience with hematology/oncology patients in a clinic or hospital. Must have valid Florida driver's license and vehicle for travel to other FCS offices. Must have current CPR & BLS certifications. Fluency in the English language with excellent oral and written communication skills is required.
 
Key Performance Areas:
 
1.        Safely and accurately mix and administer chemotherapeutic agents to patients as ordered by FCS physicians. Will use ONS standards and guidelines. Accurate and safe disposal of biohazardous waste, per OSHA and HRS guidelines.
 
2.        Documentation:   Thorough and accurate documentation in OncoEMR of treatment rendered to patients. Accurately prepare superbill to charge patient for services received in office. Ensure appropriate charges are captured by following guidelines for appropriate administration of all medications.
 
3.        Teaching: Act as moderator/instructor for chemotherapy classes as needed. Educate patients and (when appropriate), family about medications, side effects and planned treatment course. Interact with patient and family in a caring, professional manner.
 
4.        Telephone triage: Includes prioritizing incoming calls and messages from patients, family members, hospitals, nursing facilities, pharmacies and physician offices from emergent to non-urgent. Must respond accordingly in an appropriate time frame.
 
5.         Supplies: Includes assisting with inventory and re-stocking medical supplies, when called upon. Recommend purchase of new items as needed. Place stock in storage areas in a timely manner.
 
6.         Pyxis: Have working knowledge of dispensing medications via Pyxis. Able to perform cycle count. Restock medications within appropriate time frame. Enters all appropriate patient charges into Pyxis.
 
7.         Meetings: Attend annual Safety / OSHA training meetings. Attend all mandatory staff meetings as necessary.
 
8.         Maintain and ensure the confidentiality of all patient and employee information at all times.
 
9.         Assist in training new employees to related job duties.
 
10.       Will be expected to work at any FCS location to help meet FCS business needs. 
 
11.     Complies with all federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to patient    privacy, patient’s rights, personnel law, safety, labor, and employment law. Adheres to FCS and departmental policies and procedures, including IT policies and procedures and Disaster Recovery Plan.
 
Working conditions: Medical office/clinic.
Essential Physical Requirements:
·         Ability to travel independently throughout the facility to access information from other departments.
·         Excellent manual dexterity for starting IVs and administering treatment to patients. Must be able to reach, grasp, handle and write.
·         Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, kneel, climb, reach above head, lift, carry, push/pull, and respond quickly in order to perform patient care quickly.
·         Ability to lift and assist patients in and out of wheelchairs and treatment chairs.
·         Must be able to see clearly, hear normal and soft tones, (auscultation) and speak clearly.
·         Ability to operate a motor vehicle for travel to other offices.
